We visited Greece at the perfect time of year! The weather was absolutely delightful. It was in the low 70’s during the day and high 50’s in the evening. We spent our time in Athens doing a lot of walking which resulted in having lots of stops at local cafes. We watched the locals drink a tall drink with what looked like whipped cream on top. After asking we learned these were cold cappuccinos and that was the beginning of our love affair with freddo cappuccino. The locals drink these coffees regardless of the weather. Luckily for us the weather was warm so we had many of these wonderful coffees. We also discovered a dessert which is amazing – bougatsa. Think of it as the custard of a warm homemade banana pudding inside freshly homemade filo. There were many cappuccinos and bougatsas eaten on this trip!
