I had my last official Executive Committee meeting and dinner Thursday, December 9th after 20+ years’ as a member. The photo seen here is of me in the wine cellar at Sparks’ Steakhouse in NYC after the dinner. The firm is in great hands as the next generation is stepping up to lead the firm for the next 20+ years! It has truly been an honor and privilege to have served on the Exec under our two terrific Chairmen, Tom Wilson, Sr. and Dan McMahon, and with such great partners and colleagues these many years. And I could not be more excited about the next chapter in my life or Wilson Elser’s future.

I co-authored Defending Billion-Dollar Claims: Nine Best Practices for 10-Figure Losses for the August 2021 issue of CLM Magazine and Preparing for the Big One in the October issue. These articles discuss how insurers and defense litigators should prepare for catastrophic events such as shootings, wildfires, building collapses and other mass casualty events in a practical manner. We advise building a defined crisis team by engaging experienced counsel and working with local, state and national authorities to investigate the incident, as well as establishing a defined defense strategy plan and executing it consistently. We also emphasize that messaging is key, even when the settlement is finalized: “In the aftermath, be ready for anything and be prepared for everything.” More articles are scheduled to be published.
